What inspired you to write your memoir?
The realization that time passes so quickly, and the desire to capture a moment, led me to this book. Kids grow up so fast, and there are some events that are so perfect, and so magical, that you wish that you could hold onto them forever. Watching my twelve-year-old play ball for a week in Cooperstown – and flourish – was one of those events. Thankfully, I was able to crystallize it in print, where it will endure as more than a fuzzy memory.
About your Book:
A 12-year-old boy’s odyssey to the birthplace of baseball, to play in a week-long tournament, is told through the eyes of his father, who is blissfully along for the ride. Funny and heartwarming, it is a unabashed love letter from a father to a son, and to the game that binds them together.
How did you decide how to publish your book and where is it published through:
The book is available only for Kindle and Kindle-supported devices, on Amazon. Originally, it started as just me, jotting down my memories of our trip while they were still fresh. As I continued on, and my wife kept begging me daily to write more, I realized that the project was taking on a life of its own. Once it was finished, I knew I had to share it.
How do you see writing a Memoir as different from writing other genres of books?
I have never written a book before, but I am a television writer, which is an entirely different animal. All I can say is, there is nothing like the purity of a real experience. The writing process was cathartic, really. I realized very early on that I had no masters to serve, other than my own recollections and opinions.
Author Bio:
