What inspired you to write your memoir?
I didn’t want to be single for the rest of my life. So I started to keep a journal of my dating life as a middle-aged single man. It started as therapy for me. It didn’t turn into a book until later. Plus, I wanted to make sure it had a happy ending.

About your Book:
I got divorced after 25 years of marriage and bravely entered the world of modern dating. I embraced my new single life (as best I could) and began to learn everything I could about dating, relationships, and finding love again.

I interviewed single adults of both sexes to get insights about what works and what doesn’t work when searching for a romantic partner. I researched online dating, and I helped other single adults write effective online dating profiles. As part of my research, I attended dating events including “speed dating” evenings and dating mixers. My research and personal dating experience became the basis for my humorous memoir, Confessions of a Middle-Aged Babe Magnet.

How did you decide how to publish your book and where is it published through:
Going the traditional route via an agent and a publisher was taking too long, so I published the book on Amazon.com under the imprint Soulmate Media.

How do you see writing a Memoir as different from writing other genres of books?
You know how they always say “write what you know”? Well, what do you know better than your own life?

I was newly single after a divorce, and I didn’t want to be single for the rest of my life. My memoir started out as therapy for me. I wrote down my thoughts and my experiences and I re-entered the dating world. As my journal unfolded, I realized I had the makings of a great book.

I formed a publishing company and first published the book as an e-book on Amazon.com. Then I used Create Space to create the paperback version, which is now available through Baker & Taylor distributors.

How do you see writing a Memoir as different from writing other genres of books?
Memoirs SEEM like an easy genre of books to write. But what makes a great memoir is the same thing that makes any kind of book great– revising and rewriting. My original journal was great for getting my thoughts down, but my rewrites and embellishments are what turned Confessions of a Middle-Aged Babe Magnet into a good book.
