Stacy Bewick is lost. Lost inside her head. Born to parents who abused her body, mind and soul, Stacy survived through psychic connections to angelic spirit guides and by creating inner personalities.
By the time Stacy was two, the personality called “Marla” knew how to find food in the paper garbage sack in the kitchen. When she was four, the personality called “George” knew how to be strong enough to block the pain from Mommy’s forsythia whips or Daddy’s leather belt.
Stacy didn’t grow up in a remote village or a primitive culture. Stacy grew up in a small town in New Jersey in the 1960s.
Sky Eyes is a very personal journey into dissociative identity disorder One of the main visible symptoms of DID is the lack of a single stable personality. Like posttraumatic stress disorder, DID is created as a result of trauma and extreme, prolonged abuse.
Stories like Sybil and The Three faces of Eve help readers connect with adults who suffer from DID. Sky Eyes is unique in that it describes each personality as it develops in a child. Step into Stacy’s world and discover what happens when society ignores abuse.
300 Words:
Stacy Bewick is lost. Lost in a world inside her head. Voices tell her when it’s safe to look for food and when to ‘blank out’ until the Dark Ones–her parents–have finished doing unspeakable things to her.
Some of the voices are angelic spirit guides that comfort her. Some of the voices come from inside her head. From before birth, Stacy has been creating inner personalities to help her survive a constant barrage of abuses as Mommy and Daddy attack her body, mind and soul.
“Wax Child” was the first of the Inner Ones, formed when Stacy was in Mommy’s tummy, to ward off the tidal waves of fear and pain that flooded her. By the time Stacy was four, she had over a dozen Inner Ones.
“Marla” knew how to steal quarters from Daddy’s desk to buy bananas from the kind Hispanic man that drove a rusty pickup filled with fruit down the street twice a week. “Wild One” was allowed to scream when Mommy and Daddy’s punishments lasted too long. When she was five, Stacy’s head was so noisy that she decided she’d have only as many Inner Ones as she had bones—207.
Stacy didn’t grow up in a remote village or a primitive culture, but in a small town in New Jersey in the 1960s.

Sky Eyes is the only book about Dissociative Identity Disorder that is told from the perspective of the individual inner ones, or parts. It is also the only book to my knowledge that shows how and why inner personalities are developed, and describes the inner turmoil as the splitting of the self occurs.
