What inspired you to write your memoir?
I had a story worth telling! I was in a small writing class about three years ago where I discovered how healing and cathartic writing was for me. It wasn’t until I met Jack Canfield (of Chicken Soup for the Soul) 8 months later, and he read my first writings, that I had an idea I could write a book. His encouragement and believing in myself before I did, really inspired me to write the book.
About your Book:
Madly Chasing Peace: How I Went from Hell to Happy in Nine Minutes a Day details the raw, compelling story of Dina Proctor’s journey to hitting emotional rock bottom and reconstructing her life.
She created (quite by accident!) a life-transforming technique that she calls 3×3 Meditation (3 minutes, 3 times a day) that enabled her to heal from clinical depression, recover from addiction, lose weight, transform relationships, create a successful business, and everything in-between.
Endorsed by Jack Canfield and complete with an interview with renowned cell biologist Bruce Lipton PhD, Madly Chasing Peace gives the reader hope, inspiration, and detailed concrete steps for using Dina’s 9-minute-per-day technique to transform their own lives.
How did you decide how to publish your book and where is it published through:
I wanted to keep the rights to my book so I originally decided to self-publish. But an opportunity came through Morgan James Publishing (where I do get to keep the rights!) so I ended up publishing with them.
How do you see writing a Memoir as different from writing other genres of books?
I’m not traditionally a writer so I couldn’t answer from a perspective having written in different genres, but I do know for me a Memoir is intensely personal and very cathartic to write and share with readers.
Author Bio:
Just over 4 years ago I hit an emotional rock bottom, struggling with alcohol addiction, food issues and suicidal depression. I felt like I’d tried everything possible to fix myself and nothing worked. Today, though, I’ve found a consistent happiness (little known to most people!) and I’ve turned it into a simple, practical method for others to change their own lives.
Quite unintentionally I created what I call “3×3 Meditation” (3 minutes, 3 times a day), which has been the catalyst for my own (and now my clients’) transformation. From weight loss and banishing addictive cravings to reconstructing relationships, this easy and yet incredibly effective method has caught the attention and support of Jack Canfield and Bruce Lipton, PhD, among others, and the media.
I’ve turned my journey into a mission – I’m a mind-body connection coach, speaker, and best-selling author of Madly Chasing Peace: How I Went From Hell to Happy in Nine Minutes a Day. My passion is showing people how simple meditation can be, how easy it is to fit into even the busiest days, and how practical and possible it is to transform your life in 9 minutes a day.
