What inspired you to write your memoir?
I should have died from a severe scooter accident with a massive head injury in Mexico January 2007. This resulted in 7 steel plates and 34 screws surgically placed in my face to hold it together. I put all of my healing and personal growth skills to the test and they worked quite well. I never suffered any pain; not even a headache. I have very little scaring and no head injury symptoms that most people complain about. I have spent a lot of time clearing my subconscious mind and training my conscious mind to send me harmonious messages. This paid off big time when I was faced with this life threatening accident. How you choose to think about your choices and circumstances can make them better or worse. I chose to not mentally suffer over my situation and as a result I never had any physical pain. My life slowed down for about 6 months and during that time I began a new romantic relationship, traveled to California, Hawaii and Italy and experienced one magical synchronicity after another.
About your Book:
Winner of the “2011 Readers Favorite Award.” “It’s Not Weird Anymore: An Extraordinary True Tale” is an eclectic soup of a love story, Match dot com, relationship, sacred sex, natural healing methods, essential oils, sound health advice, personal growth, metaphysical magick, archetypes, art, belly dancing, feng shui, spirit, wisdom, politics, and conspiracy spun together as an entertaining self-help teaching tool.
How did you decide how to publish your book and where is it published through:
Self publishing was the only choice because fishing for an agent and the agent fishing for a publisher takes too long and I have to do all the promotion whether I went with a big publisher or not. The self-publishing companies don’t ask you to change your work into something other than what you intended and I generally have more control of my work. I chose Outskirts Press.
How do you see writing a Memoir as different from writing other genres of books?
I wrote a Memoir because my life is very eventful and remembering seemed easier than making something up. Everyone’s focus is different and writing about something that has not been physically experienced by the writer can produce a great body of work even so. Writer’s imaginations can be quite compelling and writer’s that have fascinating unusual personal experiences make for wonderful story telling as well.
