What inspired you to write your memoir?
For twenty-five years I have been speaking to service organizations as well as lecturing at colleges and universities across the nation. Audiences were always asking when I was going to write a book. Five years ago I took them serious and started the process.
About your Book:
As a combat helicopter pilot in Vietnam, a California police officer and narcotics detective, an intelligence operative in Central America during Iran-Contra, and as a consultant in the Soviet Union and China, I experienced a life of adventure, risks, and struggles against man, machine, and nature. Along with my peers, I served honorably, yet constantly questioned the government policies that were taking the lives of those around me. One of those conflicts continues, and I’m willing to stand up and pull the veil away on what is really happening today in the War on Drugs.
How did you decide how to publish your book and where is it published through:
Since I felt that the majority of my books would be personally sold while on the speaking circuit and during conferences, I felt it would be best if I created my own publishing company, Hill Country Ink, and self-publish.
While this has been the case, I am especially pleased with the response through Amazon, especially Kindle.
How do you see writing a Memoir as different from writing other genres of books?
Since I am in the process of writing a novel, the difference that stands out is that with the Memoir, my life experience had already provided me with the cast of characters, events, and script.
